Kings Defeat Coyotes 4-3 in OT, Advance to Stanley Cup Finals

Dustin Penner was the hero for LA tonight as the Kings will be well-rested going into the Stanley Cup Finals versus the winner of the Rangers/Devils series.

The Kings are going to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1993 with an overtime goal from Dustin Penner at 17:42 of overtime. the Kings just hope that this time around, the cup will come to la-la land for their first Cup victory in franchise history

It was a highly contested game with 51 shots being directed at Mike Smith of the Coyotes to the 41 directed at Johnathan Quick of the Kings.

The Coyotes had two different leads in the game before Mike Richards made it 3-2 for the Kings at 13:43 of the second period while Keith Yandle answered for Phoenix just 3 minutes later tying the game at 3.

It remained that way throughout the third period and overtime until Penner got the game winning goal off a Jeff Carter rebound to win the series and send the Kings to the Cup Finals.

Phoenix had goals from Taylor Pyatt, Marc-Antoine Pouliot, and Keith Yandle with assists from Pyatt, Martin Hanzal, Radim Vrbata, Kyle Chipchura, and Rostislav Klesla. Los Angeles had goals from Anze Kopitar, Drew Doughty, Mike Richards, and Dustin Penner with assists from Doughty, Dustin Brown, Colin Fraser, Justin Williams, Penner, Jeff Carter (2), and Voynov.

Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals is set for May 30th in either Newark, NJ, or New York. Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals is tomorrow. The series is tied 2-2
