Nintendo revealed a hardware revision for the 3DS during their Direct conference tonight and guess what? It doesn’t have a second analog nub!
The 3DS XL was announced today by Nintendo. There will be some minor revisions but, the most glaring of all will be that the XL measures in at 93mm x 156 mm x 22 mm and weighs 336 grams. The top-screen will measure at 4.88 inches, meanwhile the lower-screen will measure at 4.18 inches.
The battery life will also be better with estimates currently stating the 3DS XL will last 3.5-6.5 hours when playing 3DS titles, up from 3-5 hours of the current model. It will last 6-10 hours when playing DS titles, up from 5-8 hours of the current model.
Nintendo will release the Nintendo 3DS XL in North America on August 19th for the MSRP of $199.99, come with a 4GB SD card, and launch in Red/Black and Blue/Black colors. New Super Mario Bros. 2 will launch alongside it on August 19th.
