Did Laurinaitis get fired? How was the crowd reaction to Vince McMahon being back in a WWE ring? Find out here!

Sorry about the hiatus, E3 took all of our resources last week and the wrestling section got neglected but, we’re back!

Vince is back and confronting Johnny Ace to open the show. The usual banter between heel and face where heel (Johnny) makes no valid points and Vince insults him. Show and Sheamus come out and there’s a lot of nonsense. Vince then tells Laurinaitis that everything better be impressive tonight or he’ll hear the words, “you’re fired!” It’s great to see McMahon back but, that seems to be short-lived as I’ll explain later. It’s amazing how all these characters from the Attitude Era can bring so much emotion out of the crowd. I just wish we’d see more of them although Vince has been around most of the past 12 or so years.

Sheamus vs. Tensai was a bit odd to me. It was a good back and forth match for the maybe 5 minutes that it got and then suddenly, Tensai lose again. Personally, I think they’re going to completely drop the character, it’s been a complete dud so far and the former Albert is capable of much more than this terrible gimmick. Oh yeah, Tensai beat up Sakamoto afterwards so, take that as you will. AND we will have a four way elimination match later between Christian, Ziggler, Swagger, and Khali for the #1 Contendership to the World Title. Yes, Khali. Remember that brutal title reign that he had? Ugh.

Big Show lays out Truth during an interview. Not really sure why that was needed…

I didn’t see the Ricardo/Beth vs. Layla/Santino match but, it’s safe to say we didn’t miss much. Where did all the good divas matches go? Probably with 3/4 of the good divas in TNA. At least we still have Nattie and Beth.

Ryback defeats jobbers. Awesome.

It’s Kofi vs. Show tonight in a Steel Cage after one of Vince’s comedy skits which we saw a lot of tonight and were pretty well done.

We then get the standard crazy chick threesome that we’ve had the past few weeks and out of that we get AJ/Punk vs. Bryan/Kane. Interesting enough match but, let’s face it, here comes another angle. This AJ thing has been utterly hilarious and she fits the bill perfectly.

Dolph Ziggler wins the #1 Contender’s Battle Royal and will hopefully win the World title. No one has worked harder to achieve his goals than Dolph and I really hope they give him his due after being stuck in mediocre storylines for the last 8 months. It’s time.

Natalya is begging Vince to let all the Harts come back to an event, he brushes her off only to start dancing with Naomi and Cameron with Ryder looking on dumbfounded. Uh. What was that..

Otunga vs. Clay is announced for the No Way Out pre-show. Yawn.

Big Shows destroys Kofi. Nuff’ said. Show is the monster heel again and we’re all on notice. Hasn’t this been done many times? It works but, what’s the point? Why not let the Big guy be different? Instead he’s the status quo.

Sin Cara flies around the ring and goes over Hawkins. Poor Hawkins. Never gets a chance. Maybe he should team up with Ryder again? Hey why not? We rehash everything in the WWE except what the people want.

It’s Vader Time. WOW! He looked as good as he did 12 years ago. Kudos to Vader for reminding everyone what sports entertainment should be. He deserved that TV time.

So, AJ kissed Kane. Then Kane got flustered and went to the back, Punk then took control and won. Then we get crazy AJ sitting in the middle of the ring and Bryan and Punk just staring. Kind of creepy and I really don’t know what they’re going to do with this. Very different indeed.

Vince and Johnny are now in conflict over John’s job when show comes out and blames McMahon for making him the way he is. John Cena then comes out and defends him. Show and Cena fight and Vince gets accidentally knocked out. End show.

Overall, a very weak show for a three hour event. I’m worried for the permanent move to 3 hours, I don’t know if I can sit through things like that anymore.

  1. Sheamus def. Tensai
  2. Santino Marella/Layla def. Beth Phoenix/Ricardo Rodriguez
  3. Dolph Ziggler def Christian, Great Khali, Jack Swagger to become the #1 Contender to the World Championship
  4. Ryback def. Willard Fillmore & Rutherford ‘PS’ Hayes
  5. Big Show def. Kofi Kingston in a Steel Cage Match.
  6. Sin Cara def. Curt Hawkins
  7. Vader def. Heath Slater
  8. AJ & CM Punk def. Kane & Daniel Bryan
