Today, the first day of E3, THQ chooses to close their San Diego studio. Talk about great timing…
The team at THQ San Diego, that last made WWE All-Stars, has been made obsolete by the powers that be.
They were apparently working on THQ’s next UFC game but, as we learned earlier, those duties are now in the hands of Electronic Arts under their EA Sports brand.
Kotaku has confirmed the closure today:
“THQ confirms that today’s announcement regarding the UFC license transition will affect the company’s San Diego studio. THQ is working closely with those relevant staff to either find possible employment within the company, or potentially with EA.”
At least they’re going to try and place the employees somewhere else instead of just completely leaving them on the hook like that. Still, it’s a sad day at THQ San Diego.
