Epic’s newest update to the Unreal Engine (Unreal Engine 4) is coming soon and will power all of Epic’s future games.
According to Epic Games, Unreal Engine 4 will be packed with the same features and tools for all devices from low end to high end. The company has stated that every platform from the iPhone to high end PCs will be supported by Epic’s next generation engine. The Wii U is a different story. There were some earlier statements of not supporting the Wii U however, it’s more powerful than an iPhone so theoretically it should be able to handle the engine. Time will tell as to whether or not we’ll see Wii U support however, Unreal Engine 4 (as Mike Capps said) will handle all Epic’s future games, from mobile to consoles and PC which could mean a PS3/360 appearance.
Tim Sweeney confirmed that the Unreal Engine 4 tech demo was running on a single high-end Nvidia GPU and Epic Games’ Mark Rein revealed that they already have a couple next-gen games planned. Perhaps we’ll see Epic Games’ new PC game running on the engine, we’ll have to wait and see. In the mean time, here’s the elemental tech demo:
