The Columbus Blue Jackets have traded goaltender Steve Mason to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for goaltender Michael Leighton and a 2015 third-round draft pick.
A former Calder Trophy winner, Mason has posted an 3-6-1 record in 13 games with the Blue Jackets this season with a 2.95 goals-against average and an .899 save percentage.
The Jackets also acquired forward Marian Gaborik from the New York Rangers. In return the Rangers will receive forward Derick Brassard, defenceman John Moore, forward Derek Dorsett and a sixth-round draft pick in 2014.
Columbus also acquired Blake Comeau from the Calgary Flames in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick as well as goaltender Patrick Killeen from the Pittsburgh Penguins for future considerations.
It looks like the Blue Jackets are gearing up to go deep into the playoffs this year.
