The Minnesota Wild have decided to stay with a familiar face in goal for the next 3 years as the club has re-signed pending Unrestricted Free Agent goaltender.

Niklas Backstrom is back in the fold with the Minnesota Wild as the goaltender and team agreed to a 3-year $10.25 million contract extension that will keep Backstrom from becoming an Unrestricted Free Agent.

The 35-year-old appeared in 42 regular season games this season, going 24-15-3 with a 2.48 goals-against average and .909 save percentage. He has spent his entire seven-year career in Minnesota, posting a 184-124-45 record, with a 2.43 GAA, a .917 SV% and 28 shutouts in 369 career games since signing with Minnesota as a free agent on June 1st, 2006.
