The Capitals have added a veteran defenseman to the fold less than 24 hours before Monday’s NHL Trade Deadline.
The Washington Capitals have acquired D Tim Gleason from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for defenceman Jack Hillen and a fourth round draft pick in 2015.
“We are pleased to welcome Tim to our organization,” Capitals senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan said in a team statement. “Tim is a veteran, physical defenseman and we feel his experience, toughness and skill set further strengthens our blueline.”
The 32-year-old Gleason has a goal and six assists for the Hurricanes this season.
