The Flames have sent defenseman Kris Russell to Texas.
The Calgary Flames have traded defenceman Kris Russell to the Dallas Stars in exchange for Finnish defenceman Jyrki Jokipakka, prospect Brett Pollock and a conditional second-round pick.
The 28-year-old has four goals and 11 assists for 15 points in 51 games this season – the final year of a two-year, $5.2 million deal he signed with the Flames in 2014. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Drafted 67th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2005, Russell has scored 38 goals and added 135 assists in 562 regular-season games with the Blue Jackets, St. Louis Blues and Flames.
The Caroline, Alberta native has also appeared in 24 playoff games, recording three goals and 12 points.
