The Toronto Maple Leafs continued their roster purge on Sunday dealing forward Shawn Matthias to the Colorado Avalanche.
The Maple Leafs acquired forward Colin Smith and a 4th round draft pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft by sending forward Shawn Matthias to the Colorado Avalanche.
Matthias, 28, scored six goals and tallied 17 points in 51 games with the Leafs this season, while posting a minus-10 rating. He signed with the Leafs in the off-season on a one-year, $2.3 million deal.
Smith, 22, scored 13 goals and added 21 assists in 54 games with the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage this season. He was selected by the Avalanche in the seventh round of the 2012 NHL Draft.
The Leafs retained no salary in the deal and now have 12 selections in the draft.
