FYIG recently got to chat with Playboy’s Miss March 2016 for South Africa, Jasmine Ferguson. Jasmine was kind enough to take us through the ins and outs of her modelling career — passions, fitness tips, embarrassing moments, and more! You don’t want to miss this Canadian beauty!
Tell the readers a bit about yourself for those that haven’t seen you before.
I’m Jasmine Ferguson – born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I was always very independent, growing up extremely fast; I always knew life had something BIG in store for me. I had many life experiences have shaped me into who I am today! I started dancing and performing at age 10, I loved being in front of the camera and knew I was meant to use my looks and life experiences as my success story. I was never into modelling and acting as serious as I am now due to the fact that I simply was unable to have those opportunities provided to me. At the end of 2015, I decided to make this my full time career and go all out. I relocated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada to further my career in modelling and acting. I am 5″5, 104 lbs. Measurements are 33DD Bust, 23″ Waist and 33″ Hips. I travel lots and my one-2 year goal is to be living in LA in the beautiful sunshine. I am driven, motivated and determined to not only achieve success for myself but to use myself as inspiration to help others turn their visions into reality. I define the good life as a life full of freedom and opportunity – live the life you love and love the life you live xo
How did you get into modelling?
I started free lancing in Calgary a few years ago, I was told that I was a natural in front of the camera so I went to Toronto for interviews with a agencies and I signed on with a handful of agencies on the spot in Toronto, Canada.
What are some of your interests outside of modelling?
Personal Development – Studying people that are successful. Aka. Tony Robbins!
I also love to do yoga and steam or anything that puts my body in a peak state of health!
What projects do you have coming up in the future?
I have a mermaid photoshoot in Vancouver, Canada for a Mermaid school in Australia. As soon as I get back to Toronto from that I have another Playboy shoot with Anthony Randall. Stay tuned!
You do life coaching and motivational speaking. What led you to start doing that, and what does it consist of?
A lot lead to this and I’ll leave the details for my future book. However, mainly it was life experiences and wanting to share those experiences with the world by helping who I can excel in what they aspire to do. Waking up and immersing myself in personal development on a daily basis led me to do this as that’s basically what all my mentors do! It consists of my Weekly Motivational Monday email which is a kick start to the week as well as create vision boards who are goals in picture form!
What’s the most fulfilling part of your job?
The most fulfilling part of my job is to be able to help people create their visions. Photographers especially are the main type of artists I work with so being able to create their visions in a visualize form is very rewarding!
You were named Miss March 2016 for Playboy South Africa as well as being featured in Playboy Croatia and Germany. How did those opportunities come about and what does it mean to you to be an official playmate?
It has always been one of my dreams to become a Playmate ever since I can remember. This is solely because Playboy doesn’t only represent beautiful nude women but because Playboy empowers women to be who they are. I contacted a photographer in Toronto and he said that he did photography for Playboy and so we went about the shoot with NakedNews being behind the scenes as well and bang within a week, 3 countries had picked up my submission. Amazing!
What’s the best and worst aspects of being a model?
Best aspects are being able to meet many different people and travel all over the world. Worst aspect about being a model is the amount of money I spend on a daily basis for the upkeep of a princess!
How does being a model affect your social and personal life?
Being a model sometimes has a difficult toll on my social life and personal life as I am super busy and work comes before play! But to be busy in this industry means you are doing something right and I would rather be busy then bored so the social and personal life will have to wait!
Do you have any funny stories from the various shoots you’ve done?
My Playboy shoot with Bruce Calero was in a window at Everleigh Nightclub in Toronto and here I’m just doing my thing – stripping naked in front of the cameras and next thing you know I’m naked in front of the window and the whole street is starring at me! Free show for them – HA HA
It takes a lot of work to maintain the type of body that you have. Take us through your fitness routine.
LOTS OF FASTED CARDIO! I was about to compete in 2015 for bikini but then unfortunately I busted my knee in the middle of prep and couldn’t follow through so instead I went and got a bigger boob job! So I have been recovering from both of those incidents so I haven’t been in the weights as much but I can swear by AM fasted cardio and waist training!!!! Also, eating as clean as you can – veggies and protein diet is KEY.
What are your professional and personal goals?
Professional Goals: is to become a sponsored model in LA and move down to LA for modelling and hosting events. Many more goals but have to keep some as a secret as I’ll make sure I kill every goal I set 😉
Personal Goals: Be the next Jennifer Aniston and stay fit and have young skin until I’m 70!
You have a few tattoos. Can you tell us the meaning of them (if there is one)?
The main meaning of all my tattoos is: FREEDOM. I have one tattoo that says, “I am the hero of this story”. Self explanatory. But everyone is the hero of their OWN story!
What’s the weirdest request you’ve ever received from a fan (if you can think of one)?
Wow! I’ve had some really odd requests but probably one of the oddest would be to send my worn underwear signed in the mail….
Do you have any advice for any girls looking to get into modelling or even people trying to go after their dreams?
JUST DO IT. Limiting beliefs will crush you – get rid of those limiting beliefs only have space for goals and dreams in your mind, set your goals WITH DATES, network and get to work! No goal is unattainable regardless of your situation – you just have to put in the work!
