Arguably the biggest Trade Deadline domino has fallen as Kevin Shattenkirk has been traded by the St. Louis Blues to the Washington Capitals.
The Washington Capitals have acquired defenceman Kevin Shattenkirk and goaltender Pheonix Copley from the St. Louis Blues for a 2017 first-round pick, conditional second round pick and forwards Zach Sanford and Brad Malone.
The 28-year-old has 11 goals and 31 assists in 61 games this season with St. Louis and is a minus-11 rating. Shattenkirk is a pending unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Sanford has split time between the AHL and NHL this season, scoring two goals and an assist 26 games with Washington.
The Blues will retain 39% of Shattenkirk’s $4.25 Million salary this year.
