This edition of our Magazine Rack features Sega Visions Issue #21 from October/November 1994. Doom 32X is the featured game in this issue!
This issue of Sega Visions is interesting because it details the new rating system from the ESRB that was being instituted in time for Holiday ’94. This system was put in place in response to the growing concern about violence in video games. Another interesting feature was the reveal of a TV special on MTV with Sega entitled, “Rock the Rock”. It was used as a way to introduce the world to the lock-on technology included in Sonic & Knuckles as well as crowning the World’s Best Video Game Player in a competition.
In a humourous fan letter, one fan asks why Sega are introducing the Saturn when he just bought a Sega CD to have the latest technology. The response talked about the next add-on, the 32X. This was right around the time that Sega started their fall from grace and this letter sums that up so perfectly.
