The Montreal Canadiens have a new young forward in the fold as they made a deal today with the Tampa Bay Lightning to acquire F Jonathan Drouin.
The Montreal Canadiens have acquired Jonathan Drouin and a conditional 2018 sixth-round draft pick from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for Mikhail Sergachev and a conditional 2018 second-round selection.
Drouin is coming off a career year, scoring 21 goals and adding 32 assists in 73 games with the Lightning. The 22-year-old is a pending restricted free agent. The Lightning picked Drouin third overall in the 2013 draft.
Sergachev, drafted ninth overall by the Habs in 2016, played four games with the Canadiens in 2016-17. He would then go on to win the Mastercard Memorial Cup with the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires this past season. He led his team’s defensemen in points with 43 in 50 regular-season games.
Now word yet on what the conditions of each pick involved in the deal are.
