The New York Rangers have traded captain Ryan McDonagh and J.T. Miller to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Libor Hajek, Brett Howden, Vladislav Namestnikov, a 2018 first-round pick and a conditional second-round pick.
The 28-year-old McDonagh has one year and $5.3 million remaining on the six-year deal he signed with club in 2014.
In 49 games this season, McDonagh has two goals and 24 assists in 23:55 minutes a night.
Miller, 24, has 13 goals and 40 points in 63 games with the Rangers this season.
The Lightning received a pair of prospects back in the trade in Hajek – a 20-year-old defenceman selected 37th overall in 2016 – and Howden, a centre the team picked 27th overall last June.
Namestnikov, 25, has 20 goals and 44 points in 62 games this season with the Lightning
