FYIG recently had the chance to chat with St. Humain about his new single Fever Vibe and his upcoming EP called Emotional Sauna!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hi!! I’m St. Humain, and I make music. I flop between being this deep-in-thought artist who wants to make you feel the world with my songs… And just a simple guy wanting to go out for pizza and drinks… Hit me up.

How would you describe your musical style?

I’d like to say I have a pop backbone, but then it’s ornamented by elements from many other genres. I listen to such a wide variety of music so I guess it all bleeds through somehow! I guess you could say pop is like the Christmas tree but all the decorations are whatever other styles you wanna dress it up with!

How did you first become interested in music? Was it your first career choice or did it evolve into that as your passion grew?

I listened to the radio SO MUCH growing up. I think that was where it started. Top 40 countdowns were my thing… And I guess I loved it enough to start to want to try and pursue this music thing.

Your latest single is called Fever Vibe. Tell us a little bit about that song.

I was thinking about love. It’s a funny thing but I find that no matter who you love, there’s that common thread of feeling… That excitement, the warm fuzzies, and the thoughts that race a million miles a second in your head. I tried to compile all that into a song… And out came Fever Vibe!

Your debut EP Emotional Sauna is set to debut in January 2019. What can audiences expect from the EP?

If I had to pick a word, it would be “honest”. It’s very meta. I’m very meta. It’s a collection of songs that mark where my life is currently at, and I think it’s a very relatable EP with themes of love, life and just the awareness that I’m a shit person sometimes. Musically though, there’s a lot of fun pop, electronic and urban elements in there!

Do you have any plans to release a full-length album in the future?

I can’t say I’m not already working on it… Shhh.

Are there any musicians that you dream of working with? If so, who and why?

Okay so I literally just heard Lauv and Julia Michael’s new song “There’s No Way” and I’m in freaking love with it. So both Lauv and Julia for sure. Besides my current obsession, I’d LOVE to work with Max Martin. He’s a genius.

What advice do you have for aspiring musicians?

Work hard, get wisdom from people you trust, and don’t give up. Oh and listen to a ton of music. Don’t ever lose your love for music because that’s what made you want to do music anyway, right?

What’s a day in your life like when you’re not in the recording studio?

I was just thinking about this the other day. I’d be in LA, starting my day at the gym before grabbing some breakfast at Blue Bottle, then just hangs with mates doing some thrift shopping, lunch at Guerrilla Tacos, pizza, movies… The works. I’d be a full-time tourist.
