Tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Bryn Pottie, I’m the creator of Newly Single Gamer. I’ve acted in three web-only commercials and wrote one. My comedy duo Definition Of Knowledge has performed at Montreal Lady Fest and Austin Sketch Fest, and ar currently signed to Howl and Roar records!

How did you get your start in the entertainment industry?

Once I get my start, I will let you know!

You have a new project called Newly Single Gamer. Tell us what that’s all about.

Newly Single Gamer is a YouTube series about a very sad man who tries to review video games but is too wrapped up in his own sadness to complete the reviews. This is different than other video game reviewers, who are able to overcome that sadness.

Your ex-girlfriend in the series is played by Allison Dore (who we spoke to a month or so ago). How did you two meet and what’s it like working with her?

Allison Dore is a longtime dear friend. We met when we both worked as box office at Yuk Yuks. We later worked together as closed captioners at the now defunct TV network “The Score”, where we bonded over her love of Portland Trailbazer Nik Stauskas. Working with her at The Score was dream come true. More than once I came to work in the middle of the night drunk out of my mind and slept under a desk, then woke up there and started my shift. She never batted an eye. On her last day, I bought her a cake that had “Die In a Fire” written on it. I’m signed to her record label. It’s been a long strange trip!

How did you come up with the idea for the series?

I got the idea when I realized how many people review games on Youtube, yet none of them ever talk about themselves. I started to really wonder what Arlo’s personal life was like. (Arlo is a blue puppet who recently released a series of 40 minute long Breath Of The Wild reviews) I’m sure he’s actually way happier and better adjusted than me, but still. I just wanted to know, ya know?

Are you a big gamer? What’s your favourite game?

My all time favourite game is Fallout 76!

Do you have any plans for other gaming related series?

Honestly, not that many people watched this one so probably not.

What’s next for your career?

I’m really hoping to make the move to LA, so I can be an audience member at America’s Funniest Home Videos. Now that Alfonso Ribiero is hosting, that show has gone in a really interesting direction and I would just love to be a part of that.

What advice do you have for aspiring entertainers?

A lot of haters out there will try and tell you that a severe alcohol dependency is bad for your career. Don’t listen to them. You just do you.

What’s your life like when you’re not recording videos?

Smashin’ brews, hackin’ darts, slaying that tang pretty much sums it up.
