Tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Shawn Meehan. I’m 1/5 of the Canadian country rock band Me and Mae.

Describe your musical background and how the group came together.

I grew up listening to a diverse range of music. My father introduced me to The Eagles as a kid and my stepfather later set me on an extraordinarily diverse musical journey. He taught me to keep an open ear and mind to all forms of art and music. Different Members joined at different times through the band’s history. We all came together with the common bond of having a passion for playing live.

How would you describe your musical style?

I would say its modern country rock heavily influenced by the songwriting of the ’70s.

How has your signing with RL Recordings out of Detroit impacted your career?

It seems to have drawn the recent curiosity to the band. We played to a packed house a few weeks ago in our hometown and a lot of the fans were certainly asking about it.

Tell us a little bit about your latest single, “Where The Good Times Roll” and the video behind it.

We see our music as a great form of escapism! Lol! Make people forget about everyday life for a while. So I guess you could say we want to take you away to that place, where the good times roll! The video was basically our attempt to visually create that place!

The video already received 36,000 views on YouTube within a month. Did you ever expect the song to have such quick success?

It’s at over 45,000 as of this morning! Mind-blowing. No, we didn’t expect to get such a quick reaction but its very humbling! We are very grateful.

You’ll be performing at the Calgary Stampede Jul 11th and 12th. What can audiences expect from your live shows?

We’ll be doing our set acoustically at those shows. Very intimate setting.

What’s next for your career? Any plans for an EP or full-length album?

We leave next week for a 3-week promo tour throughout Canada. We will continue to release singles and a possible EP in the near future.

What advice would you have for aspiring musicians?

If you see yourself doing anything else, get out now! It’s too tough to do this for any reason but for a strong desire to perform and record. Don’t do it because you want to, do it because you have to!

What are your lives like outside of music?

Not much lol, it’s basically our number 1 focus. When we are not on the road, we are at home writing, recording and rehearsing.
