Tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Julius Cowdrey and I’m based in London & spend a lot of time in LA. I’m a singer/songwriter and I write about things I have experienced, it acts as therapy for me and I hope others can relate to my music.

Your father and grandfather both captained the English cricket team. How difficult was it for you to step out of the sporting background and go after your own passions?

Not difficult at all actually! My family always urged that I pursue what I love and dream big. Yes, there was a moment when I wanted to be a cricketer, but I just couldn’t stop singing!

What was your experience like on the reality TV series, “Made In Chelsea”?

Fun experience! Met some great people and it was great exposure for my music.

What led you to a career in the music industry and how would you describe your musical style?

My mum sang jazz, that’s probably where my love comes from. At a young age, she put me in piano and singing lessons, I can’t believe I’m able to call it my career!

What can you tell us about your latest double release “If This Is Love Then I Must Hate You” and “Better Day”?

I wrote both singles about two very tough times. ‘If This Is Love Then I Must Hate You’ is about being let down in the music industry and ’Better Day’ I wrote when I had been let down massively by my girlfriend, I never thought I’d be a victim to such betrayal like it.

What went into the decision to release both singles side-by-side?

Ah well, I hadn’t released music for a year and I just wanted to punch two singles out that I feel compliment each other well. They are different but also quite similar in their storytelling.

Do you have any plans to release an EP or full-length album in the near future?

Not just yet. I’m looking to release a couple more singles this year and next year release an EP! But things can change. I’m writing so much music and can’t wait to release them!

What advice would you have for aspiring singers/songwriters?

I’d say, follow your gut and don’t let anyone change you and your style. Release music that you love! Also…don’t sign anything unless you’re 100% certain it will positively impact you!

What’s your life like outside of music?

My life..well I am a spin instructor at a place called Ride Republic, I love to cook and am super sporty! My favourite thing in the world is to travel, I want to travel the world!
