Tell us a little bit about yourselves.

Evan: I was born and raised in Southern California and have been playing music since I was about 10 years old. I’m also an avid sports fan – I root for the LA Lakers and Philadelphia Eagles (my Dad’s from Philly and indoctrinated me at a young age).

Jon: I was born in Gainesville, FL, and grew up in Jacksonville, FL. My dad started teaching me guitar when I was 13 and immediately started writing songs. I definitely work out just so I can be more of a foodie, and I play D&D.

How would you describe your musical style?

Evan: Indie rock with some surf rock, folk rock vibes.

How did you come together to form, “Night Market”?

Evan: We met through my stepsister, who Jon has been dating for several years now, which is awesome! We started jamming once in a while and in about 2017 decided that we need to form a band! The rest is history.

Jon: That sums it up!

How did you come up with the band name?

Evan: I remember hearing it and liking it because it reminded me of a trip I took to Thailand a few years ago where I visited some night markets filled with interesting fruits, fish, vegetables, etc. The whole trip was an incredible experience and I like being reminded of it through the band name.

Jon: There’s also a Thai restaurant in LA called “Night Market” (super good) so it felt like a little homage to LA.

Your latest single is called, “White Seasons”. What can you tell us about this song?

Evan: The song is about longing for better days of the past while going through the more trying times in life. The better days I was thinking of when writing “White Seasons” were trips up to the mountains during winter with my family and friends.

The song is off your latest EP which is under the same name. What can audiences expect from this set of songs?

Jon: They can expect a warmer side of songs. Our first EP was arranged for full band and we usually perform these songs with a full band, so it’s fun to change things. We like the contrast of this EP and the first one.

What’s it like to already have some of your songs featured in shows on ABC and NBC?

Evan: It’s pretty surreal to hear from people who like the songs in Portugal, Brazil, and other places around the world that heard our music through the shows!

What’s next for the band?

Evan: We have a bunch of summer shows coming up around Los Angeles!

Jon: We’re also trying to play festivals and larger shows so we can share what we do!

What advice would you have for aspiring singers/songwriters?

Evan: Keep on experimenting with your music and never stop playing! As with many things in life, you learn as you go what works and what doesn’t. It’s all about trial and error and sharing your creativity and passion with the world.

Jon: Silence your inner critic. You’ll always have someone “in the room” with you when you write or create. When you have that voice that questions how good something is, just take a breath and keep going. You’re probably on the right track.

What are your lives like outside of music?

Evan: We both have full time jobs that keep us busy. Outside of work and music, I like playing and watching sports, watching movies, reading, going to the beach, playing poker and video games here and there, eating good food, drinking beer and singing karaoke with friends… You know, the typical stuff.

Jon: Outside of music I’m an acoustician, so I’m always learning something new about sound.

Let the readers know where to find you online.
