Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m a US-born, UK-bred music artist & songwriter making music that sparks love and self-empowerment. I have always felt I could be my true self on stage or whenever I made music, it felt and still feels like home.
How did you get into songwriting?
I originally wanted to be a film composer but I loved performing too much to give it up so I found the balance and decided to express myself writing songs on the journey of finding my songwriting voice and what I wanted to say, I found that it was intrinsically connected to my self worth and the way I saw who I was and has helped me grow and remember who I really am. Seeing people online embrace who they were inspired me to fight for this too so the moment I committed to this journey of releasing the old subconscious wounds that prevented me from giving myself the love I craved, my anxiety released, I gave more love to myself and others and my music flourished into my honest expression. And as I continue to evolve into who I am whilst I shed these layers, my music will continue to mirror this and I’d like to pass on this inspiration, love, and peace through my music, my socials in whatever way I can.
How would you describe your musical style?
Empowering alternative pop. I see each record I do as its own world of sound and experience of some influence of self-love. I believe this will continue to be a thread in every record I create even if the levels vary because that concept is so ingrained in my every day and the way I see my life.
What can you tell us about your latest single, “I Choose Myself”?
‘I Choose Myself’ is the first song of a new era for me as a music artist. I wrote this single late last year with two wonderful writers and friends Carolyn Oakley and Ben Matravers who also produced the record. This song is about choosing and empowering ourselves even when the choices we make don’t make sense to others; to keep going and follow our ourselves no matter what. A song that inspires us to regain back our power after giving it away for so long and in doing that, find the freedom we didn’t realize we were missing.
Do you have any plans for an EP or full-length album in the near future?
No EP or album just yet, but there’s a string of singles in the works!
What’s are your goals for your career?
My goals for my career keep evolving but it always comes down to the core of using music and social media to connect with and spark peace & joy for as many people as possible, whether that be through records, live shows, collaborations, live streams, and even through other creative mediums. Spread the love far and wide.
If you could send one message to anyone out there who’s is struggling right now, what would it be?
You are enough. You are more than enough. There is only one of you. You are extraordinary just by being and you have nothing to prove. Be kind to yourself. You are enough.
What advice would you have for aspiring singers/songwriters?
Two things; follow yourself with everything you create and express, listen and understand the words you’re singing like it’s a conversation with an open heart. Learn to believe in yourself and your voice, once you’ve decided what you believe about yourself no one else’s opinions will matter to you, good or bad. You do not need anyone else’s approval to express yourself musically or otherwise. Stay true to you.
What’s your life like outside of music?
Eat cake, watch Friends, hang out with my family and friends often making each other wheeze laugh, play video games, listen to music with sound-canceling headphones in the dark, enjoy oracle cards, and get inspired by positive spiritual guidance and wisdom wherever I can find it.
