Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Where to begin!! I’ve been solo for about five years now. A handful of songs have smashed radio and I’m just trying to keep up!! Canada has been incredible to me. It’s an honour to be heard by so many people.

How did you get your start in music?

My music teacher in elementary school saved my life. She taught me that you can channel your energy and hurt into good.

How would you describe your musical style?

Pop/soul/hip hop/reggae/country/alternative. Hahaha. I do it all. I’m really passionate about not limiting myself to a genre. I grew up with country. I have a lot of dance remixes. I love ballads. I’ll never choose because artists shouldn’t have to.

What can you tell us about your latest single, “The Dark” and the video behind it?

This is one of my favourite songs ever. I wrote it with Mike Sabath and it was such an easy day. He really let me fly as an artist. It’s also a special song for me because I think it’s what I’m all about. Sometimes you gotta go through the dark to live in the light. They coincide.

What can audiences expect from your upcoming full-length album?

A mosh mash of a lot of random shit!!! And some really cool collabs.

How have you evolved since you released your debut solo EP Little Devil in September 2018?

Omg. I’m like a totally different artist. The irony is that I started with my first single Jackpot writing one on one with hello moth. Then I moved to Nashville and la and started doing a million sessions. After learning so much from so many talented people I’ve realized I need to go back to how I started writing. So this album feels full circle to me.

How was it to work with R3hab on “Radio Silence” and “Never Been Hurt Before” with Tep No this past summer?

Omg. A dream. I mean, I was a huge fan of both of them. I used to email stalk Tep No for two years before he worked with me. Haha.

What advice would you have for aspiring singers/songwriters?

Write. Write. Write. And collab. I can only write alone now because I earned that. I did so many collabs with other people before I was able to take that space up myself.

What’s your life like outside of music?

Really boring. Hahaha. I travel a lot with my friends. Do yoga. I like walking around. I don’t like to party. I’m pretty quiet in my life off stage.
