Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m a New York-based singer and dancer, and I love performing and traveling the world! Aside from doing music I also have a clothing line, the KB Sports Apparel.
How did you get your start in music?
I’ve been singing since I was a kid, it’s always been one of my favorite ways of expressing myself, and it helped me open up as I used to be very shy.
How would you describe your musical style?
Throughout my career I’ve explored a variety of musical styles, I started in RnB, then veered into pop, and am now transitioning into electronic music. As of now, my musical style can be defined as ‘electro-pop’.
How have you evolved since your debut EP, “The Edge”?
Ever since The Edge, I’ve explored a variety of music styles, shown in my latest album The Fire. I also explored more ways to use my voice and I gained a lot more performing experience! I can’t wait to complete my upcoming musical projects for 2020 and showcase them to the public.
What can audiences expect from your latest album, “The Fire”?
The Fire was a very interesting project for me to work on! It merges Pop, EDM, Dubstep, and Alternative RnB. It’s a must-listen! and can be found everywhere online.
What can you tell us about your latest single, “This Love”?
I had a blast recording my single “This Love” from my latest album The Fire! It’s very dance-y and I love performing it at my live concerts. It can hype up any crowd!
How does it feel to have the iconic Snoop Dogg on your first single, “Rude”?
It was such a blessing to have him as my first major feature! I’ve always jammed to his music and he’s always been one of my favorite rappers!
What other artists are you interested in working with?
I would love to work with rappers like Travis Scott and Future! and I would also love to collaborate with EDM DJs as I find myself more and more passionate about electronic music.
What’s next for your career?
I have some new exciting tour dates lined up for 2020! I also have some collaborations and projects for my clothing line, the KB Sports Apparel, available on my website kendrablackmusic.com
What advice would you have for aspiring music artists?
Don’t try to be like anyone else, don’t try to mold yourself. Instead, find the essence of who you really are and never let it go.
What’s your life like outside of music?
I love working out and spending time in nature! I run, I hike, I swim, and I dance, as I have a background in professional ballet.
