What have you been up to since the last time we spoke in 2018?
Thankful to say that I have grown as an artist and my team is super tight now. This freshman EP will be so good to share, plus I am more excited than ever about my songwriting and the beginning of recording for my next EP.
How have you evolved as an artist since, “Those Cherry Lips”?
I just finally gave in to my dancer self and let go with some grooves that totally make you move. I think people have said that I fit in the cracks somewhere between Soul Disco and Pop Disco and Pop R&B.
How has COVID-19 affected your career?
During the second week of 2020, we were filming a live show in a club in Vancouver. We were ready to go with all of my new songs. My list of live performance plans was specific; to finally negotiate a modest range of gigs with one of the agents on my list and….begin opening for a few artists that I had been courting. But boom, nope not a chance, ain’t gonna happen. Like so many musicians, the verdict on playing live was a huge reality check. Then as I hunkered down in Nashville for the rest of the year I quickly realized how fortunate I was to resume recording, shooting videos, plus have plenty of gigs coaching and producing other artists via Zoom and Facetime.
What can you tell us about your upcoming single, “Feelin’ New” (March 26th), and the video behind it (April 14th)?
“Feelin’ New” is inspired by my quest to be better at self-love and our mutual, primal need to just let go with a new feeling. A positive, wild feeling to help shake the isolation of the pandemic. Then one more inspiration must be mentioned, my fascination with Soulful Disco.
The concept for the “Feelin New” music video is my dance persona and our recent world-wide, online video community inspired her choices. The result is a high-energy, community cast of dancers and people with “good feels,” guaranteed to inspire all of us to sport a new smile and feel the groove; a welcome remedy for all we have lived through this last year.
What can audiences expect from your latest EP of the same name?
This EP has some previously released singles and some new tracks as well. I like to think of it as a great way to come out as a freshman recording artist and share a taste of what people can expect from me as a live performer. Emotional vocals layered on top of pop perfection with a playful humor amid respectful nods to my musical heroes.
What’s next for your career?
We have started a new chapter of songs for my sophomore EP. I’m feeling more focused than ever with my production chops, all of which evolved through the Feelin New EP.
